" No significant learning occurs without significant relationship."
—James Comer

We Value "To be Named and to be Known! "

One of the key strengths of our school is the strong feeling of "community". We are a small school in numbers, which brings some challenges, however, they are outweighed by the advantages. At MEI Chilliwack, all students are "known"; that is to say, no student feels excluded, by virtue of the fact that all students are known, not only by their teacher, but also by most staff, depending on staff assignments.

Educational research argues strongly that at the heart of learning are relationships: "No significant learning occurs without significant relationship (Comer, James)".

Successful teachers will have built 'bridges of relationship" to their students, without which meaningful learning will not take place. Our parent community and our student community will tell you that this is, in fact, one of this school's strengths.
